Luiz Fernando Silva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Klement Dupal in the 18th minute. The supporters of Jovens Democratas MZC booed when AFK Petržalka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Klement Dupal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Fernando Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tibor Barmoš in the 26th minute of the match. AFK Petržalka's Ivan Adamčík played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulinho Fonseca in the 27th minute of play. Jovens Democratas MZC were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after AFK Petržalka's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. César Coelho took the corner. Paulinho Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. AFK Petržalka's Ivan Adamčík played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdemar Guerra in the 34th minute of play. The Jovens Democratas MZC fans' excitement grew in the 34th match minute when Jovens Democratas MZC's Paulinho Fonseca looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. AFK Petržalka's Miroslav Brezník got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Jovens Democratas MZC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Fonseca to strike the kick off in the second half. Ivan Adamčík showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulinho Fonseca in the 51st minute of the match. In the 55th minute, AFK Petržalka's Ivan Kaľavský seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ivan Kaľavský the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of AFK Petržalka protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ivan Kaľavský had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 54th minute of the game. One of AFK Petržalka:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Jovens Democratas MZC:s goal. Ivan Adamčík had in the 56thth minute some difficulties stopping Paulinho Fonseca's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 57 played minutes AFK Petržalka got a freekick which was hit by Miroslav Brezník. Ivan Adamčík made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulinho Fonseca in the 58th minute of play. A hard shot 62 in the game by Paulinho Fonseca from a close distance when the talented Ivan Adamčík managed to make a qualified save. AFK Petržalka's players were relieved. Paulinho Fonsecas short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Ivan Adamčík to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valdemar Guerra got free with Ivan Adamčík in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Valdemar Guerra hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Jovens Democratas MZC's Válbson Pereira was substituted for Alfredo de Moraes. Jovens Democratas MZC's Doni Berger was substituted for Marquinhos Paes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibor Barmoš in the 77th minute of play forced Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Luiz Fernando Silva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fernando Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Klement Dupal, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 81 minutes had been played when some careless play by Jovens Democratas MZC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Miroslav Brezník was slow to take the kick. During this time AFK Petržalka's players had a chance to rest. Tibor Barmoš took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luiz Fernando Silva. Luiz Fernando Silva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. The AFK Petržalka fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Jovens Democratas MZC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
