In the 2nd match minute, Spartak de Txurdi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arcadio Paredes to maneuver through the defense. Castanheiro SC's Sebastião Paulista got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 21st minute, Zé Pedro Dionísio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Xesus Jurado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Xesus Jurado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldo Pinho in the 26th minute of play. Dagoberto de Queirós took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Beloki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dagoberto de Queirós showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osoro Amorebieta, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 41st match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. 43 minutes into the match, Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Dagoberto de Queirós had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by George Beloki. In the 45th minute, Bartolo Novo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Spartak de Txurdi's zone, Jonathan Moura stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Xesus Jurado came out of the goal and Jonathan Moura tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Telmo da Fonseca scored 0-2 in the 52nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Xesus Jurado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ronaldo Pinho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Xesus Jurado came out and tried to block the shot, but Ronaldo Pinho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 56th minute. After 60 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Marco Bezerra. After 60 played minutes, Spartak de Txurdi's Bartolo Novo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dagoberto de Queirós came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Spartak de Txurdi reached it. 62 minutes into the game, Arcadio Paredes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Spartak de Txurdi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castanheiro SC the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Beloki in the 68th minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Dagoberto de Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Ronaldo Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xesus Jurado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arcadio Paredes lost his temper 74 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 73rd minute, one of Spartak de Txurdi:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Spartak de Txurdi. In the 85th minute, Castanheiro SC's Telmo da Fonseca dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. In the 89th match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastião Paulista to maneuver through the defense. Castanheiro SC's Telmo da Fonseca was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 98th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.
