The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Eulalio Quilo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 7 minutes into the match, Deportivo Messina's Rene Pierres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aldo Kaxen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 8th minute Samuel Benet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuriy Babushkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by Deportivo Messina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Yu Cheng Kun was slow to take the kick. During this time ROJO's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Yu Cheng Kun almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Deportivo Messina's Yuriy Babushkin did a great save. Yuriy Babushkin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Samuel Benet's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Rene Pierres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Aldo Kaxen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Tymoteusz Byczewski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yuriy Babushkin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaroslaw Gongolewicz in the 21st minute. 24 minutes had been played when some careless play by ROJO's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Salvador Iztal was slow to take the kick. During this time Deportivo Messina's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Rene Pierres heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Aldo Kaxen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Jerardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Samuel Benet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yuriy Babushkin having to make a save. Deportivo Messina's Yuriy Babushkin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Samuel Benet in the 33rd minute of play. With a little luck, Deportivo Messina's Yuriy Babushkin got control of the ball when Jaroslaw Gongolewicz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aldo Kaxen came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Messina's Teodosio Ascencio. But to his dismay, Teodosio Ascencio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Yuriy Babushkin was a little too slow when Tymoteusz Byczewski got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 1-1. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Deportivo Messina made a substitution. Gervasio Larra replaced Salvador Iztal. The supporters of ROJO booed when Deportivo Messina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domingo Jakue didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 54 minutes of play, ROJO's Tymoteusz Byczewski made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Yuriy Babushkin was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 57th minute Tymoteusz Byczewski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuriy Babushkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo Messina's goalkeeper Yuriy Babushkin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Jaroslaw Gongolewicz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Yuriy Babushkin was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 69th minute Jaroslaw Gongolewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yuriy Babushkin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aldo Kaxen made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Hector Jerardo sent off a good shot on target. Jaroslaw Gongolewicz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yuriy Babushkin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. With a little luck, ROJO's Aldo Kaxen got control of the ball when Hector Jerardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 86th minute of the match, Gervasio Larra tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Aldo Kaxen saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Deportivo Messina's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Domingo Jakue in the 88th minute. Deportivo Messina's Luis Cordario was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Aldo Kaxen in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The audience was convinced that Jaroslaw Gongolewicz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Yuriy Babushkin was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. After 93 minutes Deportivo Messina's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yu Cheng Kun who took care of the corner kick. Teodosio Ascencio might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aldo Kaxen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teodosio Ascencio ran back to his position shaking his head. Tymoteusz Byczewski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Yuriy Babushkin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. ROJO were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Deportivo Messina for a fine match.
