Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s Denis Baeza got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Uwe Ziege managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s Denis Baeza fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Piorno Camino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Haupt in the 23rd minute of the match. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Marz didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s goal looked a bit too open when Anestis Kotsopoulos came free, but Piorno Camino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jacinto Firmin ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience was convinced that Denis Baeza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Uwe Ziege was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Rot-Weiss-Essen's zone, Federico Rico stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal and Federico Rico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Piorno Camino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mesut Özil in the 37th minute of play. Denis Baeza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Uwe Ziege made a huge save. Piorno Camino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Haupt, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Federico Rico could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Uwe Ziege made a huge save. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The wind increased when Octavian Basten made the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes, Federico Rico mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A. and the Rot-Weiss-Essen players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Helmut Malinowski was substituted for Maximilian Henning. In the 54th minute, Federico Rico hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 58th minute, when Mesut Özil scored to the left of an out of position Piorno Camino, making the score, 2-1. With a little luck, Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s Piorno Camino got control of the ball when Mesut Özil tried to sneak it across the goal line. Piorno Camino was a little too slow when Octavian Basten got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 61st minute. The score was now 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denis Baeza in the 66th minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper Uwe Ziege to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute of the match, Octavian Basten tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Piorno Camino saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Piorno Camino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Octavian Basten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Piorno Camino was out of position in the 75 minute of play, and Octavian Basten capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Octavian Basten really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Denis Baeza kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xove Olano didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A.'s Piorno Camino got control of the ball when Hugo Haupt tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Despite being the better team, Rot-Weiss-Essen failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
