In the 18th minute Olimpiu Mustea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andreas Möller saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yaser Mirkelam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionel Panaitoiu having to interfere. Ionel Panaitoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Çağrı As, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. 47 minutes into the game, Gigi Pantea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Phoenix Strikers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The JOKER the free kick. After the first half Phoenix Strikers were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yaser Mirkelam stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emanuel Mascovescu got free with Andreas Möller in the 50th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 50 minutes into the game, Emanuel Mascovescu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Andreas Möller. Emanuel Mascovescu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. 54 minutes into the match, Phoenix Strikers's goal looked a bit too open when Çağrı As came free, but Ionel Panaitoiu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Curcio Borrero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emanuel Mascovescu took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andreas Möller. After a defensive mix-up in Phoenix Strikers's zone, Curcio Borrero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionel Panaitoiu came out of the goal and Curcio Borrero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 66th minute, Emanuel Mascovescu reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Andreas Möller. The goal made the score 1-5. Phoenix Strikers's Toader Ghișe was substituted for Ivan Galtero. Ionel Panaitoiu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikail Veysel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Toader Ghișe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Phoenix Strikers fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Phoenix Strikers's Emanuel Mascovescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
