Club Deportivo Santiago's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eugênio Goiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Irreal Madrid's Genílson Simões proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Irreal Madrid from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute, Afonsinho Mattos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Irreal Madrid fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. Genílson Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ursino Valls in the 91st minute of play. In the 95th minute, Afonsinho Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee ended the match the Irreal Madrid players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
