The Alvi Boton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afonso Veloso should have stopped the shot. Afonso Veloso came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Karaboudjan's Fernandinho Albuquerque. But to his dismay, Fernandinho Albuquerque quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Santos Chinto's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marcelinho Abraão firmly grabbed it by the left post. After the first half Karaboudjan were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match had been going on for 92 minutes, Karaboudjan's Felippe Monteiro got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Afonso Veloso. The Alvi Boton fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Karaboudjan were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
