In the 5thth minute of the game Petrigai Guau who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo AP's Alan do Vale was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ademir de Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shi Guo Wen having to interfere. When Petrigai Guau came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the BRUGGE FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Petrigai Guau couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Botafogo AP getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Gugu Simões hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Imre Szabó managed to get in a good position for a shot. BRUGGE FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Imre Szabó was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alan do Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th match minute, Botafogo AP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Laerte de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Radoslaw Zagrodny managed to get in a good position for a shot. Petrigai Guau stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alan do Vale. 0-1. Alan do Vale came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by BRUGGE FC's Petrigai Guau. But to his dismay, Petrigai Guau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Petrigai Guau sped through Botafogo AP's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alan do Vale. 29 minutes into the match, Petrigai Guau had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alan do Vale. Botafogo AP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Petrigai Guau was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. With a little luck, BRUGGE FC's Shi Guo Wen got control of the ball when René Houseman tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petrigai Guau in the 33rd minute of play forced Botafogo AP's goalkeeper Alan do Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes had been played when some careless play by Botafogo AP's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Petrigai Guau was slow to take the kick. During this time BRUGGE FC's players had a chance to rest. Alan do Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petrigai Guau in the 44th minute of play. After the first half BRUGGE FC were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Petrigai Guau to make the kick off. Botafogo AP's Alan do Vale proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Botafogo AP from getting a goal against them. Alan do Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Avelar in the 55th minute of the match. 60 minutes into the match, BRUGGE FC's Petrigai Guau sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alan do Vale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alan do Vale made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. Botafogo AP's Alan do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petrigai Guau in the 96th minute of play. After a rather tough play, BRUGGE FC's Tomasz Hoffman got a free kick in the 97th minute. In the 98th minute, Fritz Ernst Joinvilense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Botafogo AP fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-7. BRUGGE FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
