Afonso Vargas came out of the goal and Tyler McCraw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tim Charles's late challenge caught a Brazil Academy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tim Charles helped the player get up and apologised. Tim Charles hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Marcelo Mangueira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fergus Fairbairn read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Marcelo Mangueira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fergus Fairbairn was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 31 minutes into the match, Brazil Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Tyler McCraw came free, but Afonso Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Darius Bontine hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Afonso Vargas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tyler McCraw went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to Rangers FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Darius Bontine hit a great ball. 2-1 became the score in the 39th minute when Maximiliano Omar elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar.

The wind increased when Raymond Johnston made the kick off in the second half. With 52 minutes on the clock, Joélson Barbosa commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Tyler McCraw shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Benjamin Messias might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fergus Fairbairn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
