Frank Fiori was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. A collision led to ErbaA KartaLı getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Gaspar Vermudo hit a great ball. ErbaA KartaLı's defense didn't have a chance, in the 10th minute, when Suat Kaya scored to the left of an out of position Frank Fiori, making the score, 2-0. In the 14th minute Serter Doğay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lenny Vorster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, ErbaA KartaLı's goal looked a bit too open when Alexander Klemensson came free, but Frank Fiori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Suat Kaya received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Frank Fiori came out and tried to block the shot, but Suat Kaya slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 21st minute. After 25 minutes of play, Genk's Suat Kaya made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Frank Fiori was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Genk's Suat Kaya dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-0. With a little luck, ErbaA KartaLı's Frank Fiori got control of the ball when Suat Kaya tried to sneak it across the goal line. The throw-in from Tony Mampaerts in the 37th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ErbaA KartaLı's Alesandro Nesta. ErbaA KartaLı's Frank Fiori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aron Trif in the 38th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vergil Rupov got free with Frank Fiori in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Frank Fiori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vergil Rupov, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. With 48 minutes on the clock, Gaspar Vermudo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 47th minute, one of ErbaA KartaLı:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for ErbaA KartaLı. Alfons Rijniers shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

Frank Fiori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vergil Rupov in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th minute Genk were awarded a corner. Alfons Rijniers went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Alfons Rijniers almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ErbaA KartaLı's Frank Fiori did a great save. 58 minutes into the match, ErbaA KartaLı's goal looked a bit too open when Suat Kaya came free, but Frank Fiori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Genk's Alfons Rijniers was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Frank Fiori in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 68 minutes into the match, ErbaA KartaLı's goal looked a bit too open when Suat Kaya came free, but Frank Fiori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Frank Fiori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vergil Rupov in the 70th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, ErbaA KartaLı's Joseph Yobo got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute, Joseph Yobo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lenny Vorster showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serter Doğay in the 88th minute of the match. Frank Fiori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Suat Kaya in the 93rd minute of play. The Genk fans' excitement grew in the 93rd match minute when Genk's Vergil Rupov looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. A sloppy throw-in by Tony Mampaerts in the 97th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ErbaA KartaLı's Joseph Yobo. Genk walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
