Niki Lauda kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by RIVER's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carlos Fernando Schmidt was slow to take the kick. During this time Vila Zumbi's players had a chance to rest. Kang Fan Xiang hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. 97 minutes into the match, Vila Zumbi's Almir Salgado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcial Lordi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Vila Zumbi had won after a very even match.
