With an extended leg and a bit of luck Willian Cordeiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Jenaro in the 16th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Caco Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Willian Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cléber da Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The SORRISO E. C. fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when SORRISO E. C.'s Murilo Prestes looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
