The attack was good, but when Gerardo Lordi in the 8th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graeme Gordon in the 18th minute of play forced Santa Margarita's goalkeeper Pontus Nordström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Smiddy Celts's Pontus Nordström threw himself towards the right post 25 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Graeme Gordon, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jesse McJames showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andréas Hasselqvist in the 26th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Smiddy Celts defense, Witomir Pisarczyk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jesse McJames. The Smiddy Celts fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jesse McJames should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Smiddy Celts getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Paddy Thomson hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Smiddy Celts's zone, Witomir Pisarczyk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jesse McJames came out of the goal and Witomir Pisarczyk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andréas Hasselqvist kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Lordi in the 35th minute of play forced Smiddy Celts's goalkeeper Jesse McJames to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesse McJames took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerardo Lordi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Smiddy Celts's goal looked a bit too open when Witomir Pisarczyk came free, but Jesse McJames reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jesse McJames showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Witomir Pisarczyk, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Paddy Thomson hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Enzo Peruxu might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jesse McJames. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Enzo Peruxu ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gerardo Lordi was the one to do the kick off. Andreas Landgren was extremely unlucky when he, in the 51st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 54 minutes into the match, Santa Margarita's goal looked a bit too open when Paddy Thomson came free, but Pontus Nordström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Gerardo Lordi took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Jesse McJames to make any attempt to save it. Smiddy Celts made a substitution. Wal McVean replaced Mbadiwe Mpenza. Mauro Icardi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th match minute, Santa Margarita was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andreas Landgren to maneuver through the defense. Smiddy Celts made a substitution. Smiddy Celts's Jesse McJames played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaus Mohammadi in the 84th minute of play. In the 89th minute Sean McDrain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pontus Nordström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Mauro Icardi put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Jesse McJames. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Santa Margarita had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
