Armindo Maltez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilson Andrade in the 4th minute of play. GLADIADORES's Thomas Ravelli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nildo Perez in the 27th minute of play. GLADIADORES's Wilson Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 37 minutes into the match, GLADIADORES's goal looked a bit too open when Romelio Lukaku came free, but Thomas Ravelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of GLADIADORES booed when Real Brasília FC - DMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edu Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

GLADIADORES's Thomas Ravelli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save GLADIADORES from getting a goal against them. The GLADIADORES fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thomas Ravelli should have stopped the shot.
