Laçın Cumayev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Werner Barz in the 6th minute of the match. A collision led to Deportivo Pergamino getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Valmir Starova hit a great ball. Zigmantas Gimbutas might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roberto Bonano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zigmantas Gimbutas ran back to his position shaking his head. Deportivo Pergamino's Roberto Bonano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 9th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 18th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Deportivo Pergamino's Kang Li. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carolo Jerardo in the 30th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Laçın Cumayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roberto Bonano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute Werner Barz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laçın Cumayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laçın Cumayev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carolo Jerardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 40th minute Werner Barz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laçın Cumayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Pergamino's Valmir Starova got a free kick in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The referee ignored Deportivo Pergamino's protests and gave Valmir Starova a yellow card for diving instead.
