Zeferino Diegues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Hanschirik, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Anfilogino Alfonsi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Minho FC booed when FV Wienerwald was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anfilogino Alfonsi didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Yu Ran Zhen came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Minho FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yu Ran Zhen couldn't finish the play. FV Wienerwald's Marcel Mallinger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristopher de Alcântara in the 90th minute of play. Zeferino Diegues came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by FV Wienerwald's Johnny Van Den Bosche. But to his dismay, Johnny Van Den Bosche quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Zeferino Diegues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Hanschirik, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Minho FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing FV Wienerwald to win.
