After having played for 29 minutes, Alexandre Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Garanhão do SUL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 33rd minute Arnaldo Bide shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heitor Peseiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albano Leizarraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anier Oidor having to interfere. Garanhão do SUL made a substitution. Obafemi Fabiani replaced Albano Leizarraga. Garanhão do SUL's Benigno Jesco was substituted for Alexandre Vale. San Lorenzo were awarded a corner in the 74th minute after Garanhão do SUL's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Celestino Toro took the corner. When the referee blew the final whistle, Garanhão do SUL could leave the field as winners, despite San Lorenzo having more of the ball for most of the match.
