The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Abel Krorby hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. If Nicklas Karlsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, COSMOS's Tadeusz Bielatowicz got control of the ball when Kaj Skager tried to sneak it across the goal line. Florian Piczak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 16 minutes into the match, COSMOS's goalkeeper Tadeusz Bielatowicz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kaj Skager. In the 17th minute of the match Club Atletico Los Andes got a corner. COSMOS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Abel Krorby ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dochko Rodev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florian Piczak in the 19th minute of the match. After 20 played minutes COSMOS got a freekick which was hit by Zula Nieruchliwy. If Kaj Skager had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tadeusz Bielatowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kaj Skager, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Florian Piczak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kaj Skager in the 30th minute of play forced COSMOS's goalkeeper Tadeusz Bielatowicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Isaac Verduin kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Kaj Skager might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tadeusz Bielatowicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kaj Skager ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute Kaj Skager shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tadeusz Bielatowicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Club Atletico Los Andes booed when COSMOS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zula Nieruchliwy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tadeusz Bielatowicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaj Skager in the 41st minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Club Atletico Los Andes's Kaj Skager slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tadeusz Bielatowicz. That made the score 1-0 after 47 minutes of play. COSMOS's Herbert Brytka was substituted for Zula Nieruchliwy. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Club Atletico Los Andes's Dochko Rodev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryszard Cempa in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Isaac Verduin notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Club Atletico Los Andes's Dochko Rodev. Dochko Rodev was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 100 minutes into the game, Victoriano Loreto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Tadeusz Bielatowicz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Club Atletico Los Andes support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
