Åsnes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Denzil Howarth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luke Deveraux in the 7th minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper Bernt Alsaker to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Leicester Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Vie came free, but Grant Blacknell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 11 minutes Åsnes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Michal Budzyn who took care of the corner kick. The audience was convinced that Şükür Hagi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernt Alsaker was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. The tension between the Åsnes and the Leicester Lions players grew even worse after the yellow card. Kim Alnes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Grant Blacknell made a huge save. After 39 played minutes Åsnes got a freekick which was hit by Kristian Sandersen. 40 minutes into the match, Leicester Lions's Michal Budzyn broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a rather tough play, Åsnes's Ray Man got a free kick in the 45th minute. Bernt Alsaker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tod Freeman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Poyraz Erçetin hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After the first half Leicester Lions were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kim Alnes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Åsnes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Man to maneuver through the defense. Bernt Alsaker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tod Freeman, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. With an all-out effort, Leicester Lions's Bernt Alsaker threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Camron Rhodes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Leicester Lions's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
