The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the game, Niceto Sendoa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merengue FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itacaruaré FC the free kick. After 5 played minutes Merengue FC got a freekick which was hit by Niceto Sendoa. Merengue FC's Mateo Llorienzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Enaut in the 7th minute of play. Mateo Llorienzo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesar Lauren in the 9th minute of the match. Gilberto Dacio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingo Jago, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. The supporters of Merengue FC booed when Itacaruaré FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmo Pudes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gilberto Dacio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niceto Sendoa in the 17th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Domingo Jago in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilberto Dacio saved Itacaruaré FC from getting behind. Candido Platon might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mateo Llorienzo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Candido Platon ran back to his position shaking his head. 22 minutes into the match, Merengue FC's goalkeeper Mateo Llorienzo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Candido Platon. When Patricio Enaut came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Itacaruaré FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Enaut couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Patricio Enaut in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mateo Llorienzo saved Merengue FC from getting behind. Gilberto Dacio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingo Jago, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Mateo Llorienzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Lauren in the 34th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Candido Platon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mateo Llorienzo. Merengue FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Candido Platon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Natalio Nikola's late challenge caught a Merengue FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Natalio Nikola helped the player get up and apologised. Merengue FC's Mateo Llorienzo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Merengue FC from getting a goal against them. Candido Platon received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mateo Llorienzo came out and tried to block the shot, but Candido Platon slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 45th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cesar Lauren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Merengue FC's Mateo Llorienzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Lauren in the 51st minute of play. In the 56th minute, Marcelo Gizon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Itacaruaré FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Mateo Llorienzo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesar Lauren in the 60th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cesar Lauren in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mateo Llorienzo saved Merengue FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Candido Platon in the 65th minute of play forced Merengue FC's goalkeeper Mateo Llorienzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Merengue FC's Jacinto Frascuelo got a free kick in the 66th minute. Mateo Llorienzo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Enaut in the 68th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Domingo Jago got free with Gilberto Dacio in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Merengue FC's Domingo Jago came free and shot a quick shot against goal 69 minutes in the game, fortunately Gilberto Dacio had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Merengue FC's Mateo Llorienzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Enaut in the 70th minute of play. In the 71st minute Patricio Enaut shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Llorienzo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mateo Llorienzo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Enaut in the 72nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesar Lauren in the 77th minute of play forced Merengue FC's goalkeeper Mateo Llorienzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Erasmo Pudes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Merengue FC fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Merengue FC's Domingo Jago looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 89th minute Merengue FC were awarded a corner. Jacinto Frascuelo went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Jacinto Frascuelo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gilberto Dacio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 91 minutes into the match, Merengue FC's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Enaut came free, but Mateo Llorienzo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Itacaruaré FC were the better team. Itacaruaré FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
