In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Attard Gunners's goalkeeper Amadeo Rapinett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Ciriaco Cordarrell put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Amadeo Rapinett. In the 11th minute, SAN LORENZO FC's Ciriaco Cordarrell dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremy Bonello in the 14th minute of play forced SAN LORENZO FC's goalkeeper John Locke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, SAN LORENZO FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Pullicino came free, but John Locke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thomas Zrinzo in the 22nd minute of play forced SAN LORENZO FC's goalkeeper John Locke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After taking down the ball on Attard Gunners's corner Jake Debono fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and John Locke quite easily take care of the ball. Ciriaco Cordarrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 45 minutes, Fabio Vassallo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Attard Gunners and the SAN LORENZO FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fabio Vassallo kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Lawrence De Marco made the kick off in the second half. If Ciriaco Cordarrell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 60 minutes of play Attard Gunners's Fabio Vassallo was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 61st minute, Fabio Vassallo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Attard Gunners made a substitution. Neville Taliana replaced Jeremy Bonello. Ciriaco Cordarrell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Amadeo Rapinett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. If Thomas Zrinzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SAN LORENZO FC's Ruperto Erlantz was substituted for Justino Quinito. Ciriaco Cordarrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amadeo Rapinett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ciriaco Cordarrell's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lawrence De Marco in the 86th minute of play forced SAN LORENZO FC's goalkeeper John Locke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Attard Gunners's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marcelo Michael was slow to take the kick. During this time SAN LORENZO FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Marcelo Michael almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Attard Gunners's Amadeo Rapinett did a great save. Thomas Zrinzo came free with the goalkeeper in the 91st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and John Locke could save by the left post. Ruperto Erlantz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that SAN LORENZO FC were the better team. SAN LORENZO FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
