Edgard Cabral's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jorge Caetano firmly grabbed it by the left post. 17 minutes into the match, Zero Gravity's goalkeeper Jorge Caetano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgard Cabral. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Edgard Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgard Cabral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorge Caetano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Cabral in the 22nd minute of play forced Zero Gravity's goalkeeper Jorge Caetano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbin De Ruyter in the 27th minute of play forced Goiás Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Mané Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mané Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Qin Fei Chao in the 37th minute of play. Jorge Caetano made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Edgard Cabral sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Zero Gravity getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Matías Roganov hit a great ball. In the 46th minute, Januário Quinaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 46 minutes, Edgard Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goiás Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgard Cabral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Robbin De Ruyter to strike the kick off in the second half. Mané Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filiberto Bernebe, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Zero Gravity's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Cabral came free, but Jorge Caetano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute Osmar de Moraes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Caetano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Laurent Elzen's late challenge caught a Goiás Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Laurent Elzen helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Goiás Esporte Clube booed when Zero Gravity was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurent Elzen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Zero Gravity's goalkeeper Jorge Caetano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Goiás Esporte Clube's Mané Quirino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Goiás Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. Edgard Cabral might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jorge Caetano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgard Cabral ran back to his position shaking his head.
