Uwe Ziege made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Marcos Charro sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper Uwe Ziege had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Prudencio Rolado. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erkan Fostiropoulos in the 85th minute of play forced Riesgo Cero's goalkeeper Benedicto Sugoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute, Marcos Charro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Riesgo Cero fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 89th minute, Erkan Fostiropoulos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benedicto Sugoi. The goal made the score 1-3. In the 93rd minute, Ebbo Böse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With an all-out effort, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Benedicto Sugoi threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Erkan Fostiropoulos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rot-Weiss-Essen's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
