Uwe Ziege took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquin Gallardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting a goal against them. Uwe Ziege showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquin Gallardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. If Joaquin Gallardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Uwe Ziege made an important save on a dangerous shot by Joaquin Gallardo in the 18th minute. Uwe Ziege came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Gutenberg's Joaquin Gallardo. But to his dismay, Joaquin Gallardo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Uwe Ziege stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of John Rambo's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. With his leg Uwe Ziege managed to avoid a goal in the 26thth minute, when Gutenberg's John Rambo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gutenberg's Sérgio Romero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurizio Brink in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, John Rambo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Uwe Ziege. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John Rambo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After 35 minutes, Hjalmar Blumentritt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rot-Weiss-Essen and the Gutenberg players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th minute, Hjalmar Blumentritt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling John Rambo in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Uwe Ziege prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Gutenberg's John Rambo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Uwe Ziege. That made the score 4-0 after 38 minutes of play. Joaquin Gallardo scored 5-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Uwe Ziege, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 46th minute, Benedicto Bento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gutenberg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivo Claus to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Gutenberg's Benedicto Bento nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Uwe Ziege made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Uwe Ziege took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Gines, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benedicto Bento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uwe Ziege having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurizio Brink in the 62nd minute of play forced Gutenberg's goalkeeper Sérgio Romero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sérgio Romero didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Maurizio Brink went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-1 was the resulting score. Uwe Ziege made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Gines in the 70th minute of play. The Gutenberg fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Gutenberg's John Rambo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 8-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 79th minute, Joaquin Gallardo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Uwe Ziege was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-1. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Gunther Schößler got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Joaquin Gallardo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Uwe Ziege having to make a save. In the 88th minute, Benedicto Bento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gutenberg fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 10-1. 95 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goal looked a bit too open when Benedicto Bento came free, but Uwe Ziege reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Gutenberg were the better team. Gutenberg's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
