The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Mikolaj Budzynski might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vitor José. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mikolaj Budzynski ran back to his position shaking his head. Vitor José took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wieslaw Maziarski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wieslaw Maziarski in the 21st minute of play forced S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Vitor José to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 22nd minute Mikolaj Budzynski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitor José saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led to KS LEW Chorzów's Zachariasz Niedbalski getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. After the first half KS LEW Chorzów were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mikolaj Budzynski to make the kick off. Wieslaw Maziarski took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vitor José. S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Mikolaj Budzynski put it in 0-6 from a short distance just to the right of Vitor José.
