Sever Vintilescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brice Leach having to interfere. In the 7th minute, Tiberiu Vornicescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nechifor Epure acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 7th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gale Laliberté. 14 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goalkeeper Nechifor Epure had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lee Coffman. Nechifor Epure didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lee Coffman went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 19th minute, Gale Laliberté got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brice Leach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from János Oltean in the 20th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sever Vintilescu in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brice Leach prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nae Martinescu lost his temper 25 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Academia Rio:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Varennes:s goal. Academia Rio:s Nechifor Epure showed great skill when he stopped Gale Laliberté:s penalty. In the 28thth minute of the game Sever Vintilescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varennes's Brice Leach was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Loic Deal received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nechifor Epure came out and tried to block the shot, but Loic Deal slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. Nechifor Epure made an important save on a dangerous shot by Loic Deal in the 33rd minute. After a rather tough play, Academia Rio's Marian Ozon got a free kick in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Academia Rio's Nechifor Epure got control of the ball when Loic Deal tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Varennes's Loic Deal in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Academia Rio's goalie prevented a goal. 38 minutes into the match, Ellsworth Lindsay dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nechifor Epure, 3-0. In the 45th minute Sever Vintilescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brice Leach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 48 minutes into the match, Academia Rio's goal looked a bit too open when Loic Deal came free, but Nechifor Epure reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Loic Deal to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ellsworth Lindsay in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nechifor Epure saved Academia Rio from getting behind. A collision led to Varennes getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Ellsworth Lindsay hit a great ball. In the 61st minute Gale Laliberté shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Epure saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Academia Rio's Nechifor Epure played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loic Deal in the 64th minute of play. In the 67th minute Ellsworth Lindsay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Epure saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nechifor Epure showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loic Deal in the 69th minute of the match. A collision led to Varennes getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Lee Coffman hit a great ball. Academia Rio's Nechifor Epure played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Loic Deal in the 85th minute of play. In the 87th minute, Loic Deal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nechifor Epure was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. When Loic Deal came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Varennes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loic Deal couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Academia Rio booed when Varennes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ellsworth Lindsay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brice Leach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sever Vintilescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Varennes walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
