Mingo Torrente recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 4 minutes into the match, Mingo Torrente had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Everardo Gipuzkoa. Atlético Montserrat's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mingo Torrente was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Leon Bartuelo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guido Shantala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Guido Shantala came free, but Leon Bartuelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Everardo Gipuzkoa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The wind increased when Mingo Torrente made the kick off in the second half. Atlético Montserrat's Everardo Gipuzkoa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mingo Torrente in the 53rd minute of play.
