Verwachting's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Ron Lammers dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jairo Collador, 1-1. After 17 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Verwachting! In the 19th minute, Zanko Garchev hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 20 minutes, Han Sibon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Verwachting and the Liga de Quito players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Verwachting getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Han Sibon hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Gerrit Melis came free, but Jairo Collador reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mateo Cancel hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Han Sibon fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 26th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball bounced in the crossbar and then went out. It was a very nice shot. Verwachting's Casper Enting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Urbano Pacio in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerrit Melis in the 32nd minute of play forced Liga de Quito's goalkeeper Jairo Collador to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Liga de Quito's Jairo Collador played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerrit Melis in the 34th minute of play. Jairo Collador took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerrit Melis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Liga de Quito's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verwachting the free kick. With a little luck, Liga de Quito's Jairo Collador got control of the ball when Gerrit Melis tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, Verwachting's Jairo Collador threw himself towards the right post 47 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilfred Vonk, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nestor Ibaute stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Oscar Vaalman in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. Jairo Collador showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Vaalman, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. 84 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Gerrit Melis came free, but Jairo Collador reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gerrit Melis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jairo Collador didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oscar Vaalman went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Urbano Pacio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Liga de Quito's supporters rose to their feet, but Urbano Pacio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Enting breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Urbano Pacio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Verwachting had played much better football throughout.
