Valencia C.F.'s Andoni Zubizarreta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mário Nascimento in the 8th minute of play. In the 10th minute Florentin Gougeon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Eduardo Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Eduardo Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mário Kempes in the 11th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Roceira SC's goal looked a bit too open when Mário Kempes came free, but Carlos Eduardo Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s Florentin Gougeon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Eduardo Chaves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Diego López had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andoni Zubizarreta made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Fausto Martins sent off a good shot on target. Carlos Eduardo Chaves came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Valencia C.F.'s Florentin Gougeon. But to his dismay, Florentin Gougeon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Juan Teles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Andoni Zubizarreta made a huge save. Carlos Eduardo Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florentin Gougeon, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Carlos Eduardo Chaves didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Florentin Gougeon went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Valencia C.F.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Fausto Martins scored to the left of an out of position Andoni Zubizarreta, making the score, 1-2. Carlos Eduardo Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fran Pérez, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 35 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Juan Teles. Andoni Zubizarreta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Teles in the 35th minute. Roceira SC's Carlos Eduardo Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florentin Gougeon in the 36th minute of play. Fran Pérez made a great header on Valencia C.F.'s corner, it was just that Roceira SC's Carlos Eduardo Chaves managed to reach the ball for a save. With a little luck, Valencia C.F.'s Andoni Zubizarreta got control of the ball when Fausto Martins tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Mário Kempes made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Diego López hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 52 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Mário Nascimento came free, but Andoni Zubizarreta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Valencia C.F. booed when Roceira SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. The corner led to Valencia C.F.'s Florentin Gougeon getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. If Florentin Gougeon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andoni Zubizarreta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mário Nascimento in the 63rd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s goal looked a bit too open when Mário Nascimento came free, but Andoni Zubizarreta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andoni Zubizarreta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mário Nascimento in the 71st minute of play forced Valencia C.F.'s goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roceira SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 73rd minute, when Florentin Gougeon scored to the left of an out of position Carlos Eduardo Chaves, making the score, 1-3. Roceira SC's Carlos Eduardo Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florentin Gougeon in the 78th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Valencia C.F.'s Cristian Mosquera got a free kick in the 81st minute. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Roceira SC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
