After 8 minutes, Alexander Cagnetta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the A.S. Udinese and the Picanya FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, A.S. Udinese's Alexander Cagnetta got a free kick in the 8th minute. Junior Maldini struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Pepito Riba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A.S. Udinese. With a little luck, A.S. Udinese's Fedele Schiacciacasse got control of the ball when Baltasar Pascua tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 18th minute Junior Maldini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepito Riba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of A.S. Udinese booed when Picanya FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeruko Valdés didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Picanya FC were awarded a corner in the 55th minute after A.S. Udinese's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Frechoso Sanz took the corner. In the 56th minute, Olof Kjellkvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Picanya FC booed when A.S. Picanya FC's Pepito Riba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Picanya FC from getting a goal against them. Fedele Schiacciacasse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christoph Kannegiesser in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to Picanya FC getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Zeruko Valdés hit a great ball. Zeruko Valdés's late challenge caught a A.S. Udinese's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zeruko Valdés helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Picanya FC's zone, Ermanno Moscatelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pepito Riba came out of the goal and Ermanno Moscatelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 92ndth minute of the game Christoph Kannegiesser who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but A.S. Udinese's Fedele Schiacciacasse was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fedele Schiacciacasse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoph Kannegiesser, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched A.S. Udinese eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
