Rafaela FC's German Ourente proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Rafaela FC from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Caio de Mendonça during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Guilherme Toscano to make the kick off.
