Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Genk's Ivo De Backer started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Nicollao Ovies ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jordi Peten was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Genk's Jordi Peten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ponce Perero in the 9th minute of play. In the 10th minute, Nicollao Ovies ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jordi Peten was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Leones FC's Ponce Perero got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Genk's Joris Tijs got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hector Uranga stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Steff Winnepenninck's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Hector Uranga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pierre-Alexandre Dewolf went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Hector Uranga was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Ivo De Backer capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ivo De Backer really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ponce Perero in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jordi Peten saved Genk from getting behind. Hector Uranga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo De Backer, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ponce Perero was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute Ponce Perero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordi Peten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st match minute, Leones FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simon Maseda to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 62 minutes, Ivo De Backer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Genk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivo De Backer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Leones FC's Domiku Olmo got a free kick in the 71st minute. 74 minutes into the match, Nicollao Ovies dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jordi Peten, 2-4. Crescencio Mendiguren hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After 84 played minutes Genk got a freekick which was hit by Tommi Renso. Leones FC's Guillelmus Tendiero shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 85th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jordi Peten but with some difficulty. Michiel Ooms kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Genk's Jordi Peten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Genk from getting a goal against them.
