After a rather tough play, Pagos FC's Tasos Staikos got a free kick in the 13th minute. Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa got control of the ball when Giorgos Tsiabras tried to sneak it across the goal line. Charalambos Lelopoulos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Ariel Urbasa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Charalambos Lelopoulos came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Pagos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Charalambos Lelopoulos couldn't finish the play. Charalambos Lelopoulos did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Ariel Urbasa 28 minutes into the match. Ariel Urbasa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charalambos Lelopoulos's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Tasos Staikos was shown his second yellow card after 33 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pagos FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Ntinos Tzikas had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Angelino Pelagius's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 34 minutes into the game, Angelino Pelagius cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Ntinos Tzikas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Teodoro Niva charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teodoro Niva the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Pagos FC booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Niva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ariel Urbasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charalambos Lelopoulos in the 44th minute of the match. Charalambos Lelopouloss short, quick shot in the 46thth minute got Ariel Urbasa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Charalambos Lelopoulos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 47thth minute, Ariel Urbasa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Pagos FC's Fanis Liopiris was substituted for Akis Dadamis. Sporting de Gijón's Marcial Benvido was substituted for Rosendo Orixe. Sporting de Gijón's Alberto Conrao was substituted for Blas Urdin. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Charalambos Lelopoulos made a kick off. After 71 minutes, Charalambos Lelopoulos made it 5-1 with a short kick to the right side. Sporting de Gijón's Ariel Urbasa tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Conrao got free with Ntinos Tzikas in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giorgos Tsiabras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Charalambos Lelopoulos scored 7-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ariel Urbasa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Pagos FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
