An unexpectedly hard shot by Constantino Bemabe in the 14th minute of play forced Manchester United F.C.'s goalkeeper Tzanyo Zvúncharov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alijilán returns's Justino Monico got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Alijilán returns booed when Manchester United F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raycho Chervenski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alijilán returns's Esteve Millano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pavlin Karadimitrov in the 39th minute of play. A collision led to Manchester United F.C. getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Minko Gurbalov hit a great ball. The supporters of Alijilán returns booed when Manchester United F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raycho Chervenski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Manchester United F.C. were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Constantino Bemabe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gustavo Bide received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Tzanyo Zvúncharov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manchester United F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Justino Monico was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Vanko Korchev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute Constantino Bemabe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tzanyo Zvúncharov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
