The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hans Bocklund in the 15th minute. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Hans Bocklund was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Francisco Alagoano in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Francisco Alagoano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jim Frisck, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Vicente Ferraz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Max Dahlman having to interfere. When Palmares Futebol Clube's Claudinei Loureiro in the 21st minute got a chance for a shot 21st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalie prevented a goal. Rubens Recife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Max Dahlman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinei Loureiro in the 32nd minute of play forced Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalkeeper Max Dahlman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jim Frisck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute, Jo Calleri ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Max Dahlman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jo Calleri to strike the kick off in the second half. Jo Calleri took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Max Dahlman. Max Dahlman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Max Dahlman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claudinei Loureiro's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Ingmar Hellström was substituted for Henrik Alfors. In the 73rd minute, one of Étoile Sportive Du Sahel:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Étoile Sportive Du Sahel. In the 74th minute there was a penalty for Palmares Futebol Clube. Jo Calleri stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Max Dahlman. 2-4. Max Dahlman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jo Calleri in the 78th minute of the match. Max Dahlman made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Jo Calleri sent off a good shot on target. Vicente Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Max Dahlman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jo Calleri in the 92nd minute. Max Dahlman was a little too slow when Jo Calleri got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 2-6. Max Dahlman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jo Calleri, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Palmares Futebol Clube had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
