The coaching staff of Vila Nova FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Henrique Dantas had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. With a little luck, Here Comes the Hammer's Sverker Mellbad got control of the ball when Wanderson Baptista tried to sneak it across the goal line. Timmy Bogren charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Timmy Bogren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Here Comes the Hammer getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Timmy Bogren hit a great ball. If Elias Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Beto de Sousa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fritz Vedholm in the 37th minute of the match. Elias Sarmento hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Beto de Sousa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fritz Vedholm in the 39th minute of play. In the 45th minute Fritz Vedholm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beto de Sousa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Here Comes the Hammer's Sverker Mellbad proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Here Comes the Hammer from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wanderson Baptista was the one to do the kick off. Here Comes the Hammer's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roy Hellkvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
