The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 6 played minutes Lyon 69ers got a freekick which was hit by David Carminati. Manly FC's Kirby Chant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Manly FC from getting a goal against them. Kirby Chant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steevy Blondelle in the 13th minute of play. Raymond Cattin charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raymond Cattin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Lyon 69ers's Raymond Cattin got a free kick in the 14th minute. Hercule Hecht showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kent Barling in the 16th minute of the match. David Carminati kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Kent Barling received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Hercule Hecht tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 played minutes Lyon 69ers got a freekick which was hit by Pacôme Bousquiet. With his leg Kirby Chant managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Lyon 69ers's Batiste Eynard fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 39th match minute, Manly FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pearce Hayward to maneuver through the defense. In the 42nd minute, Pearce Hayward hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

Manly FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Lyon 69ers's much stronger midfield.
