In the 12th minute Silvestre Etor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fondas Kalantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stelios Karapostolou charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stelios Karapostolou the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvio Cesario got free with Fondas Kalantas in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of ROSARIO CENTRAL F.C. booed when Olympiacos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michalis Meletis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fondas Kalantas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvestre Etor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olympiacos FC's Theofilos Touboulis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Norberto Mero in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 37 minutes, Savas Drougas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olympiacos FC and the ROSARIO CENTRAL F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute, Jacobo Ordono hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of ROSARIO CENTRAL F.C.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Olympiacos FC:s goal. 47 minutes into the match, Kostas Tziolas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Norberto Mero. ROSARIO CENTRAL F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kostas Tziolas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Theofilos Touboulis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, ROSARIO CENTRAL F.C.'s Jonatan Milio got a free kick in the 59th minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Olympiacos FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! Olympiacos FC's Fondas Kalantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacobo Ordono in the 100th minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
