Anselmo Esdras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Dinei Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute Luiz Fernando Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Jerrald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nicasio Mendebals short, quick shot in the 13thth minute got Dinei Carvalho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Umberto Fonseca's late challenge caught a RIVER's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Umberto Fonseca helped the player get up and apologised. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicasio Mendebal got free with Dinei Carvalho in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerardo Ixaka got free with Dinei Carvalho in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice moves Higinio Nofre could shoot a difficult shot in the 46th minute, which Dinei Carvalho however easily saved by the left post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anselmo Esdras to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Nicasio Mendebal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dinei Carvalho. Metolokos MZ Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicasio Mendebal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Dinei Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Higinio Nofre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Anselmo Esdras struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Dinei Carvalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for RIVER. Narciso Jerrald made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Raimundo Mesquita sent off a good shot on target. The RIVER fans' excitement grew in the 76th match minute when RIVER's Higinio Nofre looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 80th minute, Higinio Nofre ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dinei Carvalho was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. After a rather tough play, Metolokos MZ Clube's Raimundo Mesquita got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 86th minute Raí Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Narciso Jerrald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Metolokos MZ Clube's Raimundo Mesquita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Narciso Jerrald in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. RIVER's Narciso Jerrald proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save RIVER from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, RIVER's Honorato Astigar got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 94th minute, Raimundo Mesquita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anselmo Esdras during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 95th match minute, RIVER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Esdras to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. RIVER had won after a very even match.
