The audience was convinced that Alberto Mendonça's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zé Antunes was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. Goianésia E.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SORRISO E. C. the free kick. The supporters of SORRISO E. C. booed when Goianésia E.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horácio Pereiras short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Zé Antunes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee ignored Goianésia E.C's protests and gave Ian Mesquita a yellow card for diving instead. In the 57th minute, Ian Mesquita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alberto Mendonça charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Mendonça the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Goianésia E.C booed when SORRISO E. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Mendonça didn't get a good kick on the ball. Goianésia E.C were furious when Waldir Cruz was red carded, 61 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 60 minutes into the game, one of Goianésia E.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. SORRISO E. C.'s Miguel da Rocha was substituted for Alfredo da Rocha. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto Mendonça in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Zé Antunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 76th match minute, Goianésia E.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mário Aparecido to maneuver through the defense. Goianésia E.C's Zé Antunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Goianésia E.C from getting a goal against them. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 1-6 when Alberto Mendonça sped through Goianésia E.C's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Zé Antunes. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horácio Pereira got free with Zé Antunes in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Goianésia E.C's Zé Antunes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Goianésia E.C from getting a goal against them. In the 92nd minute of the match, Horácio Pereira got a very nice opportunity to score, but Zé Antunes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Alberto Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Antunes having to interfere. 1-7 became the score in the 100th minute when Alberto Mendonça elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. SORRISO E. C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
