Emiliano Urdin started the match with the kick off. Júnior Cardozo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emiliano Urdin in the 4th minute. Emiliano Urdin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Júnior Cardozo having to make a save. Júnior Cardozo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emiliano Urdin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Millan to maneuver through the defense. Salvador Incendio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Pena, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Cássio Mello made a great header on FC BARCELONA's corner, it was just that ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Salvador Incendio managed to reach the ball for a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nando Terra in the 24th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Salvador Incendio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute, Felipe Gaxan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Mauro Tano fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's protests and gave Mauro Tano a yellow card for diving instead. After 27 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Mauro Tano. Emiliano Urdin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Júnior Cardozo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emiliano Urdin in the 32nd minute. 35 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Alejo Ferrando sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Júnior Cardozo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC BARCELONA's Júnior Cardozo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save FC BARCELONA from getting a goal against them. Nando Terra charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nando Terra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Mauro Tano took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Júnior Cardozo. Júnior Cardozo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. FC BARCELONA's Júnior Cardozo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonardo Millan in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mauro Tano in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Júnior Cardozo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 60th minute Mauro Tano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júnior Cardozo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, FC BARCELONA's Luizão Varela got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Mauro Tano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Júnior Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Alejo Ferrando ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Júnior Cardozo was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. A collision led to ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Pablo Madera hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Leonardo Millan got a free kick in the 78th minute. Patrick Domingues took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Salvador Incendio. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 79 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Carlos-Mario Monclús. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Emiliano Urdin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Júnior Cardozo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emiliano Urdin's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute, Carlos-Mario Monclús got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC BARCELONA players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA.
