The referee ignored Valdieri's protests and gave Aurelio Di Lullo a yellow card for diving instead. After 16 played minutes Valdieri got a freekick which was hit by Aurelio Di Lullo. After 17 played minutes, Rangers FC's Shane Lansdale shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Frank Galfrè came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Rangers FC reached it. 20 minutes into the match, Valdieri's goal looked a bit too open when Raymond Johnston came free, but Frank Galfrè reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Raymond Johnston fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 27th minute Raymond Johnston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Galfrè saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Galfrè stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Raymond Johnston's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. After some careless play in the Valdieri defense, Raymond Johnston kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frank Galfrè. The Valdieri fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frank Galfrè should have stopped the shot. In the 45th minute Raymond Johnston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Galfrè saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reece Frissell's late challenge caught a Valdieri's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Reece Frissell helped the player get up and apologised. The Valdieri players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rangers FC were winning 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alvaro Cannavacciuolo to make the kick off. 59 minutes into the game, Dino Saurø was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Valdieri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rangers FC the free kick. After 59 played minutes Valdieri got a freekick which was hit by Dino Saurø. Frank Galfrè made an important save on a dangerous shot by Shane Lansdale in the 61st minute. With a little luck, Valdieri's Frank Galfrè got control of the ball when Raymond Johnston tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reece Frissell in the 71st minute of play forced Valdieri's goalkeeper Frank Galfrè to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rangers FC's Reece Frissell got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank Galfrè was out of position in the 82 minute of play, and Raymond Johnston capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Raymond Johnston really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. Frank Galfrè made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ron McLeish in the 93rd minute. Frank Galfrè showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raymond Johnston in the 95th minute of the match.
