In the 34th minute, Karel Peterka ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Irving Dennis was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Sport Lisboa e Benfica's zone, Božetěch Paul stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Irving Dennis came out of the goal and Božetěch Paul tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The wind increased when Karel Peterka made the kick off in the second half. Irving Dennis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karel Peterka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
