After 25 played minutes Holfenhein got a freekick which was hit by Wolf Hanselmann. In the 26th minute of the match Pio Erne sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulrich Haas skillfully saved the ball. In the 27th minute Ronny Sele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulrich Haas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 minutes, Wolf Hanselmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Holfenhein and the ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ players grew even worse after the yellow card. 45 minutes into the game, Muhammet Cakir was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Holfenhein's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ the free kick. In the 46th minute, Muhammet Cakir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute of the match Sebastian Casutt sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulrich Haas skillfully saved the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronny Sele stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Holfenhein defense, Adam Pollakowski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ulrich Haas. The Holfenhein fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ulrich Haas should have stopped the shot. Pio Erne kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Herbert Good was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Muhammet Cakir. After 64 minutes, José Büchel made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's Herbert Good tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Herbert Good showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Büchel in the 68th minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, ꜰᴄ ꜱᴄʜᴇʟʟᴇɴʙᴇʀɢ's goalkeeper Herbert Good had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by José Büchel. Ulrich Haas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernd Heid, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Holfenhein's Ulrich Haas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronny Sele in the 83rd minute of play. Herbert Good showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Muhammet Cakir in the 84th minute of the match. Elias Güthoff kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Adam Pollakowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
