The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Pipis Karapatakis got the match started through his kick off. Zé Paulo da Silva made in the 3rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Alberto Estevon. Alberto Estevon hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. The throw-in from Mieszko Barniszke in the 5th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grêmio FBPA's Rafa de Almeida. Grêmio FBPA's attentive Rafa de Almeida managed to snatch the ball when Lothar Heber made a throw-in in the 14th minute of the game. If Pipis Karapatakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rune Jarstein showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 19th minute of the match. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute Nils Hovermann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jardel Sanches saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 27 minutes Hertha 1969's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Darío Pereyra who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Darío Pereyra almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein did a great save. Jardel Sanches didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benedikt Bensch went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Darío Pereyra charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darío Pereyra the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Hertha 1969 booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darío Pereyra didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Nils Hovermann took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Jardel Sanches to make any attempt to save it. In the 41st minute Pipis Karapatakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rune Jarstein saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FBPA's Nikos Nentopoulos got a free kick in the 42nd minute. A hard shot by Moritz Hasenjäger from long distance, 43 minutes into the match, got Jardel Sanches's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 44 played minutes Grêmio FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Pipis Karapatakis. Jardel Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedikt Bensch in the 47th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Lothar Heber kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 56th match minute, Hertha 1969 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lothar Heber to maneuver through the defense. Rune Jarstein was a little too slow when Pipis Karapatakis got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 3-1. After 60 minutes, Nikos Nentopoulos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio FBPA and the Hertha 1969 players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nikos Nentopoulos kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Gigel Elenescu came free, but Jardel Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pipis Karapatakis in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rune Jarstein saved Hertha 1969 from getting behind. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gigel Elenescu in the 65th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Pipis Karapatakis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rune Jarstein. Pipis Karapatakis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. Jardel Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedikt Bensch in the 72nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Wilhelm Nienhaus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jardel Sanches was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Rune Jarstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 82nd minute. Grêmio FBPA's Ted Hoogenkamp was substituted for Filiph Biörling. In the 84th minute of the match Grêmio FBPA got a corner. Hertha 1969's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Darío Pereyra ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Darío Pereyra got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rune Jarstein quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigel Elenescu in the 86th minute of play. Pipis Karapatakis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Rune Jarstein made a huge save. Rune Jarstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 92nd minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigel Elenescu in the 95th minute of play. After 95 minutes, Wilhelm Nienhaus made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Hertha 1969 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Grêmio FBPA had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
