When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Giovanni Arósio put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Aurelian Coporan. Martin Palermo F.C. were awarded a corner in the 20th minute after Academia Rio's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tiburcio Pepillo took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Tiburcio Pepillo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Aurelian Coporan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Codrin Ionete kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Sergiu Coșeriu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Silvio Bazil having to make a save. A collision led to Academia Rio getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Codrin Ionete hit a great ball. Academia Rio's Aurelian Coporan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giovanni Arósio in the 48th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sergiu Coșeriu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Aurelian Coporan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Giovanni Arósio went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Silvio Bazil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radu Păvăloae in the 57th minute of play. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Martin Palermo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dumitru Pantelimon was slow to take the kick. During this time Academia Rio's players had a chance to rest. Silvio Bazil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorel Nedelciu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergiu Coșeriu in the 82nd minute of play forced Martin Palermo F.C.'s goalkeeper Silvio Bazil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Adrian Blănaru came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Academia Rio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrian Blănaru couldn't finish the play. Academia Rio's Aurelian Coporan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guillermo Izquierdo in the 89th minute of play. Martin Palermo F.C.'s Tiburcio Pepillo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Aurelian Coporan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Silvio Bazil didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dorel Nedelciu went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
