A sloppy throw-in by Franco Cacciatore in the 6th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Corinthians's Leopoldo Palmeira. In the 9th minute, Philippe Albert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iker Casillas came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Corinthians's Cristiano Messi. But to his dismay, Cristiano Messi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Corinthians's Cristiano Messi got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes in the game Philippe Albert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Franco Cacciatore. In the 30th minute, Villa Gordiani's Lia Marquez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Corinthians's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jiang Yi Chong in the 34th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Villa Gordiani's zone, Cristiano Messi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iker Casillas came out of the goal and Cristiano Messi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Iker Casillas came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Corinthians's Cristiano Messi. But to his dismay, Cristiano Messi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Messi in the 46th minute of play. A collision led to Corinthians getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Kiril Biradzhiev hit a great ball. After the first half Corinthians were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lia Marquez was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, González Speed managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians's supporters crossed their fingers, but González Speed was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kiril Biradzhiev might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iker Casillas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kiril Biradzhiev ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 61st minute Cristiano Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Corinthians's attentive Leopoldo Palmeira managed to snatch the ball when Philippe Albert made a throw-in in the 63rd minute of the game. Cristiano Messi in the 74thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Iker Casillas, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 78 minutes had been played when some careless play by Villa Gordiani's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jiang Yi Chong was slow to take the kick. During this time Corinthians's players had a chance to rest. With a little luck, Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas got control of the ball when Cristiano Messi tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Villa Gordiani getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Philippe Albert hit a great ball. Villa Gordiani's Natã de Salles was substituted for Arrigo Marrone. Villa Gordiani's Ove Bergman was substituted for Lia Marquez. Corinthians made a substitution. José Vítor Ramos replaced Cristiano Messi. After a rather tough play, Villa Gordiani's Philippe Albert got a free kick in the 86th minute. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, José Vítor Ramos took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Iker Casillas to make any attempt to save it. In the 91st minute, Fabrizio Canzano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. José Vítor Ramos's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Iker Casillas firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 95th minute of the match Corinthians got a corner. Villa Gordiani's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jiang Yi Chong ran over to the corner to take the kick. Corinthians's Jiang Yi Chong was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Iker Casillas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Corinthians eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
