A well-hit corner resulted in Alberto Malheiro heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 18 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Dario Alegría came free, but Laçın Cumayev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benjamin de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Buffon having to interfere. SC Braga's Zigmantas Gimbutas got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goalkeeper Marcos Buffon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zigmantas Gimbutas. 31 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Marcos Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Laçın Cumayev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dario Alegría in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of SC Braga booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcos Buffon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute Alex Sági shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laçın Cumayev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Buffon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zigmantas Gimbutas in the 66th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Zigmantas Gimbutas came free, but Marcos Buffon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 70 minutes, Benjamin de Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Braga and the AVAÍ F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Stig-Åke Mattsson sped through AVAÍ F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Marcos Buffon. SC Braga's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
