SC Pfullendorf's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Liu Yan Yan ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Blai Bacardi managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. A nice corner shot did that David Moya got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Petru Nisporeanu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Argyris Zagorakis came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the SC Pfullendorf fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Argyris Zagorakis couldn't finish the play. Argyris Zagorakis might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Petru Nisporeanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Argyris Zagorakis ran back to his position shaking his head. Petru Nisporeanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Argyris Zagorakis in the 35th minute of the match. Kıvanç Yücesan came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Örjan Forssell. But to his dismay, Örjan Forssell quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Kıvanç Yücesan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blai Bacardi in the 42nd minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Örjan Forssell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
