Fergus Fairbairn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Rangers FC from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fredric Melander came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Tymoteusz Watarz sped through Rangers FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. 26 minutes into the game, Bennvar Post recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fergus Fairbairn. Bennvar Post showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Rangers FC from getting a goal against them. 32 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tymoteusz Watarz. The crowd rose to their feet as National Team Cape-Verde's Tymoteusz Watarz slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fergus Fairbairn. That made the score 5-0 after 34 minutes of play. 37 minutes in the game, Fredric Melander fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Fergus Fairbairn having to interfere. Fergus Fairbairn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fredric Melander went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Yin Yang Wei got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Bennvar Post scored 7-0 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fergus Fairbairn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tymoteusz Watarz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. National Team Cape-Verde made a substitution. Carlos Alberto Tevez replaced Bennvar Post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 7-0 at half-time.

Fergus Fairbairn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Tevez in the 68th minute of play. In the 71st match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tim Charles to maneuver through the defense. Fergus Fairbairn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tymoteusz Watarz, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. After some careless play in the Rangers FC defense, Klas Bergqvist kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. The Rangers FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fergus Fairbairn should have stopped the shot. National Team Cape-Verde's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
